Jer.31:33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Have you ever thought about heaven? All of us have some kind of idea of what their version of heaven would be like, but what is it really like?
For the terrorists and suicide bombers, heaven is a place with seventy virgins just for them. The glutton’s heaven may be a giant buffet, all you can eat with no lingering consequences. The worldly minded man might have his thoughts fixed on his “mansion”, an enormous compound with servants to meet his every need. The outdoorsman imagines endless adventures in jungles, mountains, and sea faring journeys. Some of those things may be part of the place called heaven (maybe not the islamist’s virgins) but none of those imaginations come even close to making heaven the unending adventure characterized by joy in God. Heaven is heaven for one reason and one reason only. Heaven is heaven because Jesus is there. It will be a place of ever increasing joy that comes from a continuous unfolding of the glory of Christ. Our joy will never be completed because it will increase in power and intensity throughout eternity. Here is something Spurgeon said of this aspect of our faith that makes heaven begin in this life.

“Come, soul, here is music fit for heaven in this thy portion, for God is the Maker of Heaven. Not all the music blown from sweet instruments, or drawn from living strings, can yield such melody as this sweet promise, I will be their God. Here is a deep sea of bliss, a shoreless ocean of delight; come, bathe thy spirit in it; swim an age, and thou shalt find no shore; dive throughout eternity, and thou shalt find no bottom. I will be their God. If this do not make thine eyes sparkle, and thy heart beat high with bliss, then assuredly thy soul is not in a healthy state. But thou wantest more than present delights-thou cravest something concerning which thou mayest exercise hope; and what more canst thou hope for than the fulfillment of this great promise, I will be their God? This is the masterpiece of all the promises; its enjoyment makes a heaven below, and will make a heaven above.”

So the question begging to be asked is this; is God your God? Has He become real to you? I am not asking you if you have prayed a certain prayer, joined a church, or practiced a formula that leads to life. All I am asking is this, is Jesus real to you? If He is, then you understand my fixation on heaven. Heaven is what I was born for. Heaven is what you were born for. If you are not certain that He is your God, call upon His name. Call out to Jesus. Get real with God and He will get real with you.

5 Replies to “GET REAL”

  1. Getting real is right on my fellow saints! Psalm 46:1-4. John 7:36-38. I’m speaking to you from the midst of a monstrous tempest this morning my friend and foe! Let me hear your war cry soldiers of Jesus Christ!

  2. I believe that heaven is a place where my joy is your joy and your joy is my joy. Why. Because we are being made in his image and we will see ourselves as he is. He is makeing us unselfih. And to be totally unselfish is to want best for someone else. He did this for us.its constant love flowing back and forth the only thing that could stop it would be selfish ambitions. But that is taken cared for at the cross. We are called to pick up our cross and follow to be made like him changed into him. What would it be like to never want for self again. Because we would be totally be content in him. In the beginning our nature was tempted to have selfish ambitions outside of God.We thought for ourselves what would it be like not to believe Him and found out and are still finding out that our place is in him.Heaven a place where I am totoally content in Him and wanting so much more for you.

  3. To answer the question, ha, yes and yes, Hallelujah God is my GOD my EVERYTHING. From morning till midnight everyday every single minute, every hour. It’s all His. Thank you Dad. Blessngs Pastor Frank. Thank tu out Holy Spirit..
