THERE IS A BEVERAGE FOR THAT

Psa. 66:12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

Things might not be looking so good in your life right now. If you just went by your outward circumstances you could really get discouraged. Like most every person in the Bible, David’s life was not just fun and games either. He dealt with stuff almost daily. He had learned from his walk with the Lord that when he was overrun with bad circumstances, he could trust God to inundate his soul with His goodness. That is how David survived, he had learned to encourage himself in the Lord. In today’s verse, David was facing some pretty insurmountable circumstances yet the Lord had brought him into a place of abundance again. This word translated wealthy place is the key to understanding this passage and also how to endure negative seasons of life with joy. Here is How Dick Mills defines this powerful Bible word.

“In Psalm 66:12, David writes of His God:  . . .thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.  The Hebrew word translated wealthy in that context is the same Hebrew word translated runneth over in this verse (ps. 23:5).  The word revayah (rev-aw-yah’) which has to do with an abundance of moisture.  This abundance is so overflowing it satisfies all thirst so that the person becomes saturated or satiated.

In Psalm 66:12, David notes that after having been submerged (inundated) by men, fire, and flood, the people of Israel had been brought by their God to a place of overflowing (rev-aw-yah’) abundance and blessing.  The psalmist exults in the Lord’s tender loving shepherd’s care for him and his people. His cup is saturated to overflowing (revayah). He is experiencing more than a sufficiency of God’s wonderful blessings in his life.”

That’s how David did it, he would literally drink his way through his troubles. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not talking about alcoholic beverages, I am describing spiritual drinking; drinking in the water of the Spirit until your soul is saturated and begins to overflow. If you have bills swamping you, bad report from the doctor, wayward kids (or parents), or mean people running over your head; take courage, there is a beverage for that which is more than sufficient to see you through. Drink in the Holy Spirit, He will utterly satisfy and equip you to not only go through your struggles but to be more than a conqueror through them.

  2. Not all of us are going to be wealthy! Gods people are in different social classes. But we are all baptized into one spirit. We are all baptized in the name of God the father, God the son, and God the holy spirit. Thanks God for your vast amount of love that fills our hearts! I praise you God for the continued printing of the King James Bible! Thank you my Lord Jesus Christ!
