Jn.4:10 – Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Jn.4:13,14 – Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

If the Jesus Movement gave me spiritual birth in 1973, the River Outpouring saved my life in 1994. By the time 1994 had rolled around I was worn out, disillusioned, and somewhat jaded with the church world. I was exhausted from unrealized expectations and tired of all of the shenanigans connected to the ministry. I was done. The outpouring of 1994 restored my first love and gave me a thirst for spiritual renewal.
That brings me to the whole concept of drinking. Rodney Howard Browne kept telling everyone to “have another drink”. I had no idea of what he was even talking about until I was surprisingly touched by God. Suddenly drinking was part of my new world. I discovered that drinking was simply receiving, receiving from the Lord intentionally. That was the broken part of my life and that is what the Lord began to restore. First, I discovered that drinking from the wrong well was a huge problem. I knew better than to drink, or look for satisfaction, from the sensual pleasures of this world. What I missed was that I was now drinking from an equally poisonous well. I was drawing my satisfaction and worth from my spiritual accomplishments. Those were just as dangerous as the drinking or immoral ventures, Christ alone was to be our drink. When I discovered who Christ was and that living water was available for me I found myself in a new world. I was drinking from the well of life.
The next thing I learned was the permanent nature of this satisfaction. Jesus said I would never thirst again. Just as He took away the lust for sensual satisfaction, He also satisfied the nagging hunger for success and acknowledgement. Jesus quenches our thirst totally, drink from His well and you will never thirst again. So what is my recommendation about satisfaction in life? Go ahead and have another drink.
