Rev.5:1-3 – And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

Apparently we live at the time when the contents of the scroll with seven seals are about to be fulfilled right before our eyes. This scroll will unveil the judgement of God on mankind who have obstinately rejected God’s plan of redemption, it also gives us the first glimpse into the eternal, heavenly reward reserved for God’s sons and daughters. This passage makes it apparent that a representative of the human race has to open the scroll which will not only reveal its content but will set in motion these apocalyptic events. Jesus is that human representative that has the moral authority to open the scroll. Here is how the Fire Bible describes this.

“This scroll is of highest importance, for it contains the revelation of what God has determined as the future course of the world and humanity. It describes how the world will be judged and portrays the final triumph of God and his people over all evil. The seals, which held the scroll closed, represent a mark of authority; therefore, the contents cannot not be accessed without proper authorization. The fact that there are seven scrolls speaks of the absolute security of the contents. When each seal is opened, a portion of the book’s contents is revealed in a vision.”

It feels like our world is ripe for the final harvest and the rapture of the church. When those things happen the events described by the scroll will be on full display at an incredibly rapid pace. Beginning with a time of peace and quickly deteriorating into a worldwide season of lawlessness, gross immoral behavior, catastrophic worldwide storms, earthquakes, and pandemics that will make covid seem like nothing.

In light of these coming events how should this affect our day to day lives? Really it should just intensify our resolve. We will take more time to search the scriptures diligently on a daily basis. It will call us to pray, especially for those who do not know the Lord. We will also have a greater zeal to win the lost to Christ, rescuing folks from eternal destruction is our calling. If these things are true the kingdom of God is at hand, Jesus is literally at the door.
