TURN YOUR WILDERNESS TO A GARDEN

Isa.51:3 – Indeed, the LORD will comfort Zion;
He will comfort all her ruins.
And He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the LORD.
Joy and gladness will be found in her,
Thanksgiving and the sound of a melody.

We have been enjoying an outpouring of the Spirit in our church in our times of pre-service prayer for several months now. There is a fresh hunger for prayer in our church for which I am extremely grateful. Last week someone read today’s verse as they were leading the prayer meeting. It immediately grabbed my attention and I received it as a word from the Lord, “a word in season” as Dick Mills used to often say. I have been pondering this verse over the last week an actually using this promise as I call out to the Lord. The result for me has been a growing expectancy in my heart for a fresh move of the Spirit of God across the body of Christ. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this verse.

“He will make them fruitful, and so give them cause to rejoice; the desert will put on a new face and look pleasant like Eden; it will be full of good fruits, as the garden of the LORD. It is the greatest comfort to the church to be made useful to the glory of God, to be like his garden, in which he delights. He will make them cheerful and so give them hearts to rejoice. With the fruits of righteousness, joy and gladness shall be found therein, for the more holiness people have and the more good they do, the more gladness they have. And where there is gladness, for their assurance, it is right that there should also be thanksgiving, to God’s honor, for whatever reasons we have for rejoicing should also be the reasons for thanksgiving. The return of God’s favor ought to be celebrated with the sound of singing, which will be even more tuneful when God gives songs in the night, songs in the desert.”

So if this is real what is the Lord up to? Brother Mills once asked me what I thought the next move of God would look like. To be honest, I don’t know what to expect, I just know that something wonderful lies in store for all of His people. If you feel like you are in a wilderness take this word for yourself today.
