Jn.15:26 – But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father,
This passage always turns my attention to the last vision in the book of Revelation, John saw a river proceeding from the Father and the Son flowing out to the nations. This is the flow of the Holy Spirit to all who are thirsty, this is what Jesus purchased for us at Calvary. Think about it for a moment, the blood gave us access to God’s presence here and now. This river is the Holy Spirit flowing out to all those who love Him and have been purchased by His blood. Here is how Jerome describes this event.
“We believe in the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, that is true, and that they are a Trinity; nevertheless the kingship is one. “I saw a single throne set up, and I saw a single Lamb standing in the presence of the throne.” This refers to the incarnation of the Savior. Scripture says, “Behold the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” “And there was a fountain of water coming forth from beneath the middle of the throne.” Notice that it is from the midst of the throne that there issues forth a river of graces. That river does not issue forth from the throne unless the Lamb is standing before it, for unless we believe in the incarnation of Christ, we do not receive those graces.”
The part of this verse that I love the most is the “proceeding” part. The Holy Sprit continuously proceeds from the Father and the Son. He never stops flowing and He never runs dry, this is a perpetual flow of the life of God into the hungry and thirsty sons and daughters of God. This is all our soul longs for and will satisfy us in whatever circumstances we face. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this.
“The river of paradise. Its origin is the throne of God and the Lamb. All our springs of grace, comfort, and glory come from God, and all our streams from him are through the Lamb. This river is pure and clear as crystal. All the streams of earthly comfort are muddy, but these are clear, giving life to those who drink them.”
That’s it; all our springs flow out from Him. All our comfort, satisfaction, and glory flow over us and into us and that will never stop. This blessing will only increase in intensity and intimacy throughout eternity. All I can say is, “Let the River flow”.

What a privilege to be alive at these times in history. Never has there been the kind of instant access to countless study resources, worship music, group meetings where no-one is in the same location. Grace and more grace available. The plow-man overtaking the reaper, work while we still have light.
