Acts 1:8 – but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.”
Acts 2:14 – But Peter, taking his stand with the other eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, know this, and pay attention to my words.
Jesus told His disciples that they would stand before kings and rulers because of their preaching and teaching. He also told them that no one would be able to refute them because He would literally put words in their mouths. This proved to be true because the disciples did stand before kings and rulers and they spoke powerfully by the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Recently Charlie Kirk was assassinated publicly because of his words. He has spoken for years in public answering questions and publicly preaching the gospel thousands of times. The power of Charlie Kirk was that he spoke the word of God. You can kill a man like Charlie but you can’t stop his words, they are mighty through God to the tearing down of strongholds. Peter spoke powerfully by the Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Here is a quote from Thayers describing his words.
Thayers
“to speak out, speak forth, pronounce, not a word of everyday speech, but one belonging to dignified and elevated discourse, like the Latin profari, pronuntiare; properly it has the force of to utter or declare oneself, give one’s opinion, and is used not only of prophets but also of wise men and philosophers; whose pointed sayings the Greeks call apofthegmata. Accordingly, it is used of the utterances of the Christians, and especially Peter, on that illustrious day of Pentecost after they had been fired by the Holy Spirit…”
The good news about all of this, we have the same anointing on us today. If you are a Christian there is an anointing upon your life to proclaim God’s word. You don’t have to have a pulpit or even a microphone, Peter never had either. All you need is courage to stand before whoever the Lord brings into your world and tell them the good news about Jesus. When you open your mouth He will certainly fill it.
