MORE THAN ENOUGH
Hos. 6:3 Let us know,
Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD.
His going forth is established as the morning;
He will come to us like the rain,
Like the latter and former rain to the earth.
Regardless of how low we go, no matter how far we fall into depression, no matter how deep in sin we have gone, Christ can come to us and restore us and refresh us with His rain. His rain will cleanse and renew us, He is able to restore even the hardest of hearts, He is able to heal the foulest disease, nothing is beyond His capability to restore. The natural rain is a great picture of the outpouring of The Lord upon our lives. Rain is consistent, as long as the earth remains, The Lord sends His rain upon the earth. It may not be predictable but it is certain. The outpourings of His presence are the same. No one knows when the rain is coming, but it always has and it always will. His outpourings are sure, His renewing nature is certain. Jonathan Edwards preached about the unlimited power to restore and refresh found in the presence of The Lord, enjoy this excerpt.
“There is enough in Christ to restore rest, peace and comfort to those who are as it were cut down to the earth with terror of conscience, whose burden and distress has been so great as quite to sink the soul. And though its hope has been as it were cut off and all comfort seemed to be gone, and the soul was brought to give up itself as lost, yet there is enough in Christ to heal souls under such wounds, to raise up out of the dust with the most excellent refreshment. He can raise up as it were out of the depths of hell; he can take out of the miry clay and most horrible pit and set the foot upon a rock.
Christ is strong enough to do it. His voice has power enough in it to quicken the dead. This blessed rain has virtue enough in it to heal those that are cut down to the ground. His merits are sufficient. There is provision enough made in Christ for new life and new comfort to the most wretched and miserable and ruined creatures. And there is love enough, grace enough, in Christ for it. Such is the grace of Christ that, if once those that are disconsolate and destroyed and lost come to see it, [it] will irresistibly revive and renew ’em, it will put new life into ’em and give ’em new strength and fill them with rejoicing.”
The rain of God’s presence has the power to make alive all those that are dead in sin, it has the power to break the chains of addiction from our souls, and it has the power to heal and restore our broken bodies. If you have been cut down by the circumstances in this life look, to The Lord. He is more than able, willing, and sufficient to lift you out of your pit of misery into His life of incredible, unspeakable joy.
