GOD IS LOVE
1John 4:12-13 ¶ No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
All Christians have their “take” on the Holy Spirit. For some people He is tongues, for others He is an errand boy, and for many, He passed away with the apostles. I think for a long time I kind of gravitated between the “tongues” and the “errand boy” mentality. Looking back, the baptism in the Holy Spirit was mostly about tongues for me, but I have to painfully admit the Holy Spirit was not much more than a means to church growth success for a season in my life. Every time you have an encounter with the Holy Spirit there is a tendency to change your perspective about Him. After all He is much more than a “tongues experience” (even though I speak in tongues a lot), He is definitely more than a way to success in life, and He definitely hasn’t passed away. He is the mighty third person of the blessed Trinity, He is Almighty God. Jonathan Edwards had a unique view which has helped me in my understanding of this most mysterious member of the Trinity.
” ‘Tis he that sanctifies created spirits, that is, he gives them divine love: for the Scripture teaches us that all holiness and true grace and virtue is resolvable into that, as its universal spring and principle. ‘Tis the same love, so far as a creature is capable of being made partaker of it. God’s Spirit, or his love, doth but as it were come and dwell in our hearts and act there as a vital principle, and we become the living temples of the Holy Ghost; and when men are regenerated and sanctified, God pours forth of his Spirit upon them, and they have fellowship or, which is the same thing, are made partakers with the Father and Son of their good, of their love, joy and beauty. Thus the matter is represented in the gospel. And this agreeable to what was taken notice of before of the apostle John his making love’s dwelling in us and God’s Spirit’s dwelling in us the same thing, and explaining of them one by another.”
Just as Jesus is the Word of God, the Holy Spirit is the love of God. If you really think about it, this changes everything. Through Jesus we gain an understanding of God, through the Holy Spirit we actually taste His love. We were created with a great need to be loved. The Lord is after more than just our minds, He is after our hearts. This is who the Holy Sprit is. He is the love of God expressed powerfully in a distinct person. When we open our heart to Him, the love of God is literally “shed abroad” in our hearts.

Yes. That is how I been viewing it as we’ll. I pray in tounges a lot as well to escape this realm so the Holy Ghost has been really to me like a tool. I use him in those areas but really need to also allow him to touch those ruff areas that are still Stoney in my heart. To let him pour love in that area instead of choosing to stop him and reacting to situation( that I know he brings ) to quickly without yielding to his word for that change. He is more than just a tool given for us. So much more.
Amen x 100! He is my everything.
If you want the world to see God then show them His Love.
If you want to show them His Love then abide in His Presence.
If you want to abide in His Presence then walk in the Spirit (submitted to, in communion with, in complete dependence on His Spirit)..
If You want to walk in the Spirit then walk in His fellowship (so very close to His heart); walk in communion with Him; stay plugged into the Vine of Heaven.
If you do these things you will find a deep desire for the Word of God, an intense desire to share the Love you simply cannot contain, and a heart of mercy and of grace towards the lost and the broken
If you do all these things the Holy Spirit will truly have His way in you; the world will see His Love in you; and men will be drawn as you lift up Christ in your life.
The world is looking not for a simple spoken ideal, but for yearns for the real- they long to see that which was lost so long ago- God and man walking together in the Love of the Spirit.
That is very well poured out. Thanks
When I lived in Bham back in the 80’s/90’s there was a Christian radio station I listened to and one of the announcers always signed off: “You may not Love me, but I Love You with the Love of God.” And he would proceed to play this recording of a song titled: “The Love of God.” I do not remember the station ID and I definitely do not remember the author of the song, nor when it was recorded. But the lyrics and tune was so very mellow and comforting. It was a slow, gradual song that took your mind and heart away: the words I simply do not remember with any clarity, but they said something about: “The Love of God keeps me day-to-day, and I Know It Guides Me,” oh the rest will not come back to me. The vocal was a deep bass/baritone quality. It just drew you in, kind of like a deep-flowing river. No matter where I was or what I was doing I always stopped and cherished the song. I should try to find a dub of that recording — It Is The Bomb!!! Hearing the song always momentarily took my cares away. Thank You Lord that we can “Cast All Our Cares On You, Jesus.” Amen.
And oh I think it is The Commodores who sang, “Jesus Is Love, I Know He’s Mine Forever.” Oh My Goodness, yes we can live this ole life through songs. They are more powerful than we know. They will keep us, keep us close to God. Thank You Lord, Amen.
