EVERYDAY BLESSINGS
Psa. 147:1 ¶ Praise the LORD!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.
It is good to give praise to our God. Everything we have; every possession, our home, our family, our job, even the talent to perform our jobs; all of these things come from Him. It’s amazing how we often forget where every good and perfect gift comes from, they come from our Father in heaven. My dogs know where their daily meal comes from. When it comes close to time to eat they start following me around the house, actually trying to make eye contact with me. If I pass the designated time (they must have a clock inside them) they start yelping at me as if they are actually trying to talk. They obviously know where their meals come from. Martin Luther often used natural examples to portray spiritual truth. In this excerpt he talks about pigs being more intelligent than many humans.
“We all use God’s blessings every day, but we never think about where they come from—God. He is the one who gives us everything. Instead, we accept his gifts as if they simply appeared out of nowhere or as if we earned them through our own efforts, diligence, or wisdom. We think that God somehow owes us these things, and therefore we don’t need to thank him. Even animals don’t live that shamefully. Pigs recognize the person who gives them their food. They’ll run after her and cry to her. But the world doesn’t even recognize God, let alone thank and praise him for these blessings. If God’s people must be encouraged to praise him, how can the world be expected to do any better? It’s astounding how unwilling people are to acknowledge what God has done for them and to praise him for it.”
Yep, The Lord definitely deserves and desires our praise. For those who have been born again, they recognize The Lord deserves our praise not only for what He gives us but because of Who He is. His gifts are just a reflection of His nature. He is good, filled with compassion and tender mercy, His love for us is without measure. He loves us with an everlasting love. Once we taste this love for ourselves we will enter into a life of worship. Our song will be the song of David, “the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever”.
The natural man cannot understand worship. All he sees in worship is singing songs. The natural man also thinks that God is proud, requiring us to bow down and worship. C.S. Lewis helped me with the concept of worship many years ago. He says that we should worship God because it is the right and accurate thing to do. Humans are frail and imperfect, worship would be out of order. The Lord is perfect in all His ways. He is the only being deserving worship and praise. Anything else would be wrong or inaccurate. It is good and pleasant and rewarding to worship God. I think it might be time for a praise break.

Awesome. So true. “Praise Him in the morning, praise Him in the evening, praise Him when I’m young and old”. Praise Him!
Hallelujah to that… Thank YOU LORD… I can remember the Lord speaking to me in Church as I was in Service one weekend, He said to me Kevin worship Me really Worship and sing to Me. I told Him I am.
Ha, He said dance for me like you use to dance out in the worldly night clubs, by the way we don’t do night clubs anymore, ha. So I laughed and said to Him, I’m not going to do that in Church in frontf all these people. He said to me you did it in front of all the worldly night club people didn’t you? I laughed and said yes. He said well what are you afraid of? I told Him I fear and I am not afraid of no man. He said well dance and worship Me. Well that day I just closed my eyes and started dancing singing and raising my arms as high as I can reach waving them To the left and to the right just dancig to Him. Well the taste and the touch of Him is amazing.What a Power what a feeling what an amazing flow through my body. What a touch. O How I love your Presence. Ever since that first day I really really worshipped Him in Church, to put it this way He is the ONLY ONE I dance, sing and worship to. Thank You Lord..No more man made club music. It’s all Christian music. At Church and at Home, ha, what a High it is to Worship Him. It’s a natural drug.
