ALL THINGS FOR HIM

Heb. 2:10 ¶ For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

As David said,”The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”Everything that is, has its primary purpose in declaring the greatness of God. Man’s primary purpose was to serve as the greatest display of God’s handiwork, after all we were created in His image. The temptation and fall of man was intended to hinder God’s plan for man. Man fell from health and prosperity to a dismal life marred by disease and poverty. Rather than displaying God’s holiness, man fell into a life of sordid pursuit of pleasure in all sorts of immorality. The crown of God’s creation fell into a life of disgrace. That is when everything turned around. The Creator Himself entered into creation as a man. He lived a sinless life, everything about Him brought glory to God. Jesus was a perfect picture of what man was intended to be. Not only did Jesus live a perfect life, He died a perfect death. He died as our representative that we can be like Him. He broke the power of death and hell from our lives. We can now experience His healing, His provision, His holiness, and His power. Andrew Murray spoke about God’s plan for man in his commentary on Hebrews.

“God is the final cause of all that is. Everything exists for the one purpose of showing forth His glory. Every object in nature has its only reason of existence in this, that the wondrous goodness and power of God might shine out through it. Above all, man was created that the adorable Being, whose very nature is love, might have the opportunity of proving in Him how freely and how fully He would make him partaker of the riches of His grace and glory. For whom are all things, that in them His glory and His goodness may be made known. ‘Worthy art Thou, O Lord our God, to receive the glory and the honor, and the power, for thou didst create all things; and because of Thy will they are and were created'”.

The Lord has turned the greatest of all tragedies into the greatest of all blessings. Rather than man living his life in disgrace, he can now live his life as a redeemed son. Our testimony of what we were and what we have become is actually the greatest display of all of God’s glory and grace. Alcoholics have been made sober. Immoral people have been made holy. The sick have been healed and the needy have His provision. The story of the redeemed will be the center of attention throughout eternity. We exist to display the glory of His grace.
