JOSEPH’S ANGEL

Matt. 1:21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

No one would have come up with a story like this; Mary visited by an Angel, conceived a child by the Holy Spirit, Son of God and the promised Jewish Messiah. How could Mary’s fiancé ever believe a story like this? How could her family believe her? How could this story effect a nation, a generation, and still be accepted today? I guess the unbelievable nature of Mary’s story is what makes it quite believable today. No one would try to sell a story like this.

Joseph had to be heart broken over the news, how could she ever be unfaithful? How could she follow up unfaithfulness with a terrible lie? Joseph had made his choice, he would put Mary away privately to try to stem the controversy. That’s when the story became even more bizarre, Joseph had been visited by an Angel too, this time it was in a dream. Joseph was introduced to his supernatural life that night by an angelic dream, Joseph was now part of the most unbelievable story of all time. Here is a Christmas poem I wrote about Joseph’s Angel for Christmas 2015. Enjoy!

ALTHOUGH I WAS SLEEPING

I WAS FULLY AWARE

AWARE OF HIS PRESENCE

AND AN UNCOMFORTABLE STARE
THE ANGEL WAS SPEAKING

HE GAVE ME A START

HIS WORDS WERE ALARMING

YET STRENGTHENED MY HEART
YOUR CALL COMES FROM HEAVEN

JOSEPH – SON OF A KING

TAKE MARY YOUR BELOVED

AND ALL THAT WILL BRING
CALL YOUR SON JESUS

THE NAME LIKE A SONG

HE WILL FREE YOU FROM SINS

AND MAKE RIGHT YOUR WRONGS
CALL HIS NAME JESUS

SHOUT HIS PRAISE ALL THE EARTH

ALL CREATION REJOICING

AT THE NEWS OF HIS BIRTH

The funny thing about this story, millions of people have bought it. It started with Joseph, he couldn’t have believed this story without divine intervention; actually, no one can. We may not all have angels visit us in our sleep but this story becomes real to you by the influence of the Holy Spirit. For many, the Christmas story is just that, a story. For others it is the very word of God. Mary did talk to angels, she did conceive by the Holy Spirit, she did give birth to the Son of God, and He did die on the cross for your sins. And by the way, He rose from the dead, He sits at the Father’s right hand ruling all things, and He is coming back to earth.
