2Kings 6:15-17 ¶ When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Do you believe in angels? How much do you believe in them? Enough to know they are with us helping fulfill the plans of God constantly? Elisha’s disciple was quite disturbed when the enemies’ army was surrounding their city. Elisha seemed to be unaffected nor bothered by the soldiers and the weapons. The disciple was apparently paralyzed with fear. “Open his eyes, Elisha prayed.” Suddenly the disciple saw them, the whole mountain was filled with angels and the chariots of God. “Don’t be afraid, there are more with us than there is with them.”

This story always reminds me of a painting a church member painted years ago at Feed the Multitudes. It showed the crowds of people at the festival and angels with watermelons coming to feed the crowd. The unseen army of the Lord was there amongst us watching over and orchestrating the whole event. So why is this significant? Feed the Multitudes started out of a financial need we had as a congregation. The Lord told us the way out of trouble was to be a blessing to the poor and hurting. As our church began to serve and minister to the afflicted, the angels of God were busy taking care of all the details. The good news about this story is this, the angels of the Lord are always working on our behalf. They are not just involved with big events like Feed the Multitudes, they are involved in the everyday circumstances of our lives. He disperses His angels to those who love Him and belong to Him.

The event that the painting depicted was July 4, 1994. Within the next 2 months our church was swept into an incredible revival that we are still benefitting from today. There are more with us than with our enemies and these angels of the Lord are working to guarantee the success of the kingdom of God.

  1. Many thanks to the Pastors and staff (I have to say). This event blesses both the workers and the guests. We were able to see and experience this for ourselves at the event this year. The Lord sent angles from within the body of Christ, from other churches, various organizations in the city, and from other States. Just at the time we thought ( in the natural ) we wouldn’t have enough resources to service all of those guest who were waiting, the Lord would send his Angles in at just at the right time to help in our time of need. If you haven’t experienced this for yourself, just place yourself in a position of helping someone who has a greater need than you, at just at the right time your Angles will show up!

  2. It is amazing the change in attitude when God opens one’s eyes to the spiritual realm or to Devine plans. I would venture to say we all can look back at situations He has brought us through and the end results. The path He chooses seemed CrAzY at the time but through He worked in us for our sanctification, through us to reach others and with us for a predetermined outcome.
Either way, opening our eyes or proving Himself faithful, has the effect of building our faith. Then in times when our situation seems desperate we can fall back on that faith and know He is with us and He has a plan for good even when He does not give us insight into His plan. Stand firm!
