Rom.8:34 – Who then is left to condemn us? Certainly not Jesus, the Anointed One! For he gave his life for us, and even more than that, he has conquered death and is now risen, exalted, and enthroned by God at his right hand. So how could he possibly condemn us since he is continually praying for our triumph?
What an amazing passage of scripture. Paul has just shared with us the incredible role the Holy Spirit has in praying for us. He says that even when we don’t know how or what to pray the Holy Spirit prays for us. He prays for us using our sighs, groans, and the gushing of our heart. He strengthens us when we are at our weakest. Now Paul takes it another step further. Is it possible that the prayers of the Holy Spirit are initiated by Christ seated at the right hand of God? Absolutely! The Lord Himself knows exactly what and how to pray for us because He faced everything we face as a man and came through victoriously. How can we possibly be defeated with these two intercessors praying for us? Here is how the Passion Notes describe this.
“Not only does the Holy Spirit pray for us, so does Jesus Christ. Two divine intercessors are praying for you each day. Two-thirds of the Trinity are actively engaged in intercession for us. This is typified by the incident of Moses interceding on the mountain for Israel’s victory with one hand held high by Aaron (the high priest, a type of Jesus, our High Priest) and Hur (or “light,” a metaphor for the Holy Spirit, who prays with divine illumination for our good).”
This helps us understand what Paul meant when he said “all things work together for the good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose”. Our lives are being directed by the prayers of Jesus and the prayers of the Holy Spirit. How can I possibly lose? What can separate me from His plans for my life? Nothing in creation has the power to overcome the One who is fighting for me, No sickness, poverty, or earthly enemy can defeat us. We are more than victorious through the prayers of our TWO INTERCESSORS. Viruses can’t defeat me, bad actors can’t stop me; God’s plan for my life is certain and hastens toward the goal.
