Jn.4:13,14 – Jesus answered, “If you drink from Jacob’s well you’ll be thirsty again and again, but if anyone drinks the living water I give them, they will never thirst again and will be forever satisfied! For when you drink the water I give you it becomes a gushing fountain of the Holy Spirit, springing up and flooding you with endless life!

One of the images of God found in the Bible is a fountain. God the Father is the fountain, or source, of all life. Every good gift flows out from God the Father. He is the source of all life; He is the fountainhead. Flowing out from this fountain is the River of God. John saw this River flowing out from the Father and the Son. This River is the Holy Spirit, the love of God, that continually overflows bringing life everywhere the River flows. Jonathan Edwards preached about this fountain in his sermon, HEAVEN IS A WORLD OF LOVE. Here is a quote from it.

“There is the Holy Spirit, the spirit of divine love, in whom the very essence of God, as it were, all flows out or is breathed forth in love, and by whose immediate influence all holy love is shed abroad in the hearts of all the church. There in heaven this fountain of love, this eternal three in one, is set open without any obstacle to hinder access to it. There this glorious God is manifested and shines forth in full glory, in beams of love; there the fountain overflows in streams and rivers of love and delight, enough for all to drink at, and to swim in, yea, so as to overflow the world as it were with a deluge of love.”

We are living in the age of the overflow of the Holy Spirit. It’s as if there has been a with-straining factor holding back the deluge of the love of God. The Fountain is overflowing, and the fullness of the outpouring of His love is about to engulf the whole world. The beauty of this, this living water flows into us and then flows out of us to bring the blessing of God on all mankind.

Yes, God is a Fountain and fountains have a tendency to overflow. Our overflowing God is filling anyone today who is thirsty. Come and drink! The living water will consume you and flow out of you to your world.
