Lk.24:36-40 – Now while they were telling these things, Jesus Himself suddenly stood in their midst and *said to them, “Peace be to you.” But they were startled and frightened, and thought that they were looking at a spirit. And He said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why are doubts arising in your hearts? See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, because a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you plainly see that I have.” And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.

There is a phrase in this passage that is easy to skim over if you are not paying close attention. It’s that last part of the verse, “And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet”. Jesus showed them His hands and His feet on purpose. Now if I had been there I know what I would have been doing, I would have been sneaking a look at His hand. Those wounded hands tell the whole story. They speak of His love for me and His heavenly ministry. Jesus was headed toward His place at the Father’s right hand, that is the place where he has stationed Himself, that’s where He is praying for me. Here is Paul’s description.

Rom.8:34 – “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

What exactly do these prayers accomplish? Again we look to Paul and find exactly what this heavenly intercession is about.

Heb.7:25 – “So he is able to save fully from now throughout eternity, everyone who comes to God through him, because he lives to pray continually for them.”

His prayers have a twofold effect on me. First, I am eternally saved by those prayers. As Jesus prays for me, He displays the marks of redemption in His body guaranteeing my eternal salvation. Secondly, He effects my life now. My whole being is saved; spirit, soul, and body. His prayers avail for me.

As we celebrate Resurrection 2021 we can take courage, Christ is praying for me with His marks of love seen in His hand and His feet. Those prayers usher me into the very presence of God.

  1. He always lives to make intercession for me, Wow, he’s always thinking of me! Oh how priceless is the precious blood of Jesus that was poured out for us.

  2. We, you and I actually have access to God by way of Jesus, but for the un-repentant, un-saved, out of sight, out of mind. We, back before, would rather not think to much on Godly things, they were mostly incomprehensible and a lifestyle of strict boredum, or so we thought. Then as we come to find out, we settled for spiritual poverty and didn’t have a clue.
