A Message from the Cave
Eph.6:10,11 – Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you. Put on God’s complete set of armor provided for us, so that you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser!
Paul was obviously familiar with a good fight. He was beaten with rods multiple times, whipped repeatedly, stoned and left for dead, not to mention the riots that broke out in most cities he preached in. Why should we wonder when we get into a little scuffle? I have been in one of those scuffles for the last week or so. I became infected with Covid about a week ago and thought for several days that I was just in for a minor inconvenience. That’s when things went south. I ended up in the hospital (where I am writing this blog) with breathing issues. I suddenly became aware of what Paul was saying, this is not a natural or medical battle. Covid is a demonic attack. I was being attacked and I am taking this very personal. As a matter of fact I am pretty angry. I am ready for a good street fight.
I believe the Lord is calling His body to awaken. We are equipped with supernatural power. Victory Church is loaded and ready to fight. Our weapons are not natural for this battle, that’s why Paul said, “Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you”. Put on His clothing, put on Christ, and let’s go have a good fight. Here is how Wuest describes this strength we have for war.
“Be strong” is endunamoō, “to make strong, to endue with strength.” The idea is, “to clothe one’s self with strength as one puts on a garment.” Here the verb is in the passive voice, “be continually strengthened.” The qualifying phrase, “in the Lord,” defines the strengthening as Christian strengthening, such as can take effect only in union with the Lord (Expositors). The rendering, “be strong,” could encourage one to self-effort at being strong, whereas the translation “be strengthened,” causes the saint to depend on the Lord for the supply of that strength.”
So are you ready to get off the couch and do something? I am not talking about attending another service. I think you are ready for the fight. Put on the gloves and get in the ring. Join the evangelism team. Start a cell ministry for new converts. Visit the shut-ins or prisoners. Start an outreach to your neighborhood. Get involved in the food bank; after all we are giving out more than groceries there. Take this attack as personal and lets go to war.
