Ps.2:4 – He who sits in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them.
Who invented laughter anyway? It may be something you have never thought about but the answer has to be the Lord. He invented laughter, obviously because He enjoys a good laugh. Luke pointed this out in Lk.10:21: “At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants”. Jesus was rejoicing, actually spinning around and leaping for joy according to the original language. Jesus was rejoicing at the advancing of the kingdom, the Father was laughing at the futility of His enemies trying to hinder the advance of the kingdom. If God is laughing at the demonic attempts to stop the kingdom on earth, we really have nothing to worry about. Here is how Spurgeon describes this passage.
“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh at them: the Lord shall have them in derision.” This tautology or repetition of the same thing, which is frequent in the Scriptures, is a sign of the thing being established: according to the authority of the patriarch Joseph (Genesis 41:32), where, having interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh, he said, “and for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” And therefore, here also, “shall laugh at them,” and “shall have them in derision,” is a repetition to show that there is not a doubt to be entertained that all these things will most surely come to pass. And the gracious Spirit does all this for our comfort and consolation, that we may not faint under temptation, but lift up our heads with the most certain hope; because, “he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.”
So what kind of resistance are you having today? Are you battling symptoms of sickness in your body? HAHAHAHAHA. We are just joining in with the Lord laughing at our enemies. Have you gotten a bad financial report or some expensive repair to deal with? HAHAHAHAHAHA – Maybe your kids have turned rebellious and are running from the Lord.HAHAHAHAHAHA – Now don’t get me wrong; I am not taking your circumstances lightly. I am just saying that from God’s perspective I think it might just be time for a good laugh.
