Acts 1:4,5 – Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

The Baptism in the Spirit is essential, especially in the condition of the world today. We are dealing with pandemics, opioid epidemics, sexual promiscuity and deviancy, as well as an unlimited list of emotional problems. The church is in need of supernatural power, that power is released through the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. The Baptism in the Spirit is connected to the present day ministry of Jesus. He is the baptizer in the Spirit. As He is glorified, He pours His presence on His sons and daughters. We are baptized or saturated and immersed into God Himself. Here is how the Fire Bible describes this essential spiritual blessing:

“To be baptized in the Spirit means to be “filled with the Holy Spirit”. The word “baptize” actually means to immerse or to dip into; but since the Spirit works within a person, baptism in the Spirit implies an overflow of the Spirit. For example, a person who receives spiritual salvation is like a container that was once empty being filled with fresh, clean water. Like the container, the person is no longer empty, but has the Holy Spirit living inside. Then, the baptism in the Holy Spirit is like pouring more clean water into the container until it overflows from within. A person who is baptized in the Spirit becomes saturated and immersed with God’s presence to the point that it spills out of his or her life and is so evident that it influences others.”

The Baptism in the Spirit is a distinct separate event from salvation. Paul asked disciples in Ephesus if they had received the Holy Spirit since they believed. He then laid his hands upon them and they were all filled with the Spirit. They all began to speak in tongues and prophesy. These vocal gifts are closely connected to ministry and harvest. Something is brewing in our world today. An unprecedented harvest is about to burst on the scene. This harvest is closely connected to a greater emphasis on the Baptism in the Spirit. It’s time to be filled again; its time to be filled to overflowing. Oh, I almost forgot, the Baptism is not a one time event….. it happens over and over again.
