Amos 9:13,14 – “‘Behold, days are coming,’ declares the LORD,
‘When the plowman will overtake the reaper,
And the one who treads grapes will overtake him who sows the seed;
When the mountains will drip grape juice,
And all the hills will come apart.
I will also restore the fortunes of My people Israel,
And they will rebuild the desolated cities and live in them;
They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine,
And make gardens and eat their fruit.'”

In the beginning of 2020 (before all the crazy broke out), Parris began to use this passage of scripture to talk about an incredible breakthrough on the way. She quoted this passage from the Message Bible that said things would happen so fast and so big that it would “make your head swim”. These words may have been all but forgotten during the mayhem of the last two years, but recently these words came back to us. Could it be that the Lord is using the circumstances of Covid and Ida to bring us into that “head swimming” season? That would be just like the Lord. Watch what He does next…. maybe our church will be totally debt free and our building totally updated. I think I am ready for swimming heads. Here is how the Expositor’s followed by Clarke describes this passage:

“The reaper being overtaken by the plowman implies a great abundance of the produce of the field. Scarcely can the grapevines be planted than the grapes are ready for pressing. The great amount of wine in this time is pictured in the metaphor of new wine flowing from the hills. In other words, Amos sees a radical reversal of Israel’s fortunes. He depicts a time when God’s blessing will be poured out in unimaginable abundance.”

“All the seasons shall succeed in due and natural order: but the crops shall be so copious in the fields and in the vineyards, that a long time shall be employed in gathering and disposing of them; so that the seasons of ploughing, sowing, gathering the grapes, treading the wine-press, &c., shall press on the heels of each other; so vast will be the abundance, and so long the time necessary to gather and cure the grain and fruits.”

The best news about this- this breakthrough will come through God’s people. We are the source He always uses. Each one of us will experience our own incredible “swimming heads” moment as we work together in His fields. You reapers better not slow down- the plowman is right behind you.

  1. It’s time to thrust in the sickle and reap! The harvest is ready, the time is now, but the laborers are few, and the church is asleep.

  2. Amen ! We are God childrens have to come together with the love of God to be there to help each others. No talk about each other and don’t put each other down . The world is watching how we treat each other. God said in his word. How would they are the childrens of God by the Love they have for each others.
