Rom.5:5 – and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

The entire Godhead; the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, are all involved in the work of redemption which is to glorify the grace of God. In this earth we see His glory displayed in His redeemed sons and daughters. The grace and power of God is clearly seen in His people through the infusion and outpourings of the Holy Spirit. When your eyes are opened and you begin to perceive His glory, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit becomes glorious. God the Father is glorified through the giving of His Son for the redemption of mankind. Jesus, the Son of God, is glorified through His redemptive work on the cross, His resurrection, and His glory in His current place seated at the right hand of God. The result of the work of the Father and the Son is the glorious and lavish outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the whole earth. Being filled with the Spirit is how we taste the glory of God right here and now. Jonathan Edwards describes the display of God’s glory continuing in heaven for eternity.

“There Christ dwells in both his natures, his human and divine, sitting with the Father in the same throne. There is the Holy Spirit, the spirit of divine love, in whom the very essence of God, as it were, all flows out or is breathed forth in love, and by whose immediate influence all holy love is shed abroad in the hearts of all the church. There in heaven this fountain of love, this eternal three in one, is set open without any obstacle to hinder access to it. There this glorious God is manifested and shines forth in full glory, in beams of love; there the fountain overflows in streams and rivers of love and delight, enough for all to drink at, and to swim in, yea, so as to overflow the world as it were with a deluge of love.”

So in my day to day life being filled with the Holy Spirit accomplishes two great goals; God is glorified in my changed life and I am filled with heaven’s joy no matter what is going on in this fallen world. This is the point of redemption, to display God’s glory in our total satisfaction in God.

  1. Be glorified, be glorified
    be glorified in the heavens
    be biglorified in the Earth
    be glorified in this temple
    Jesus, Jesus be thou glorified.
