Rev.5:11-14 – Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, wealth, wisdom, might, honor, glory, and blessing.”
And I heard every created thing which is in heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, or on the sea, and all the things in them, saying,
“To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion forever and ever.”
And the four living creatures were saying, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.

John recorded this major worship experience that he was caught up in while in exile on the Isle of Patmos. In it John describes how a glimpse of the Lamb who was slain effects all of heaven and then spills over and effects all of creation. Apparently creation itself was effected by the fall of Lucifer and the fall of man. In this passage we see seraphim, elders, angels, the redeemed who are in heaven, and literally the whole universe being effected by the acknowledgement of the sacrificial death of Jesus and this powerful heavenly response to worship. As Paul said, “every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord”. If I am reading this whole passage correctly the worship in heaven pours out on the earth with astonishing results. Here is a comment from the Passion Bible notes on this topic.

“This powerful scene of heavenly worship begins near the throne and then races outwardly to every being in heaven until it extends even further, cascading upon the earth like a waterfall.”

Today, in these last days, the effect of heaven’s worship is intensifying. It seems like the stored up heavenly worship of Jesus on the throne as a man has been collecting over the years and is about to break the walls that have been built to stop this Pentecostal outpouring. Worship is literally sweeping over the entire world preparing us for the coming of the Lord. Notice again what stored this gracious response, it was the appearance of Jesus as a lamb slain for our sins. One glimpse of His sacrifice for our sins and we have just one response, to join the others with our face on the floor crying- holy, holy, holy is the Lord.

  1. I can remember well thinking, worship, why does God need my worship, does He need me to stroke His royalty, prove my submission… but then my spirit man was given life and simple things I was oblivious to began to “unfold” right in front of me. Blindness perfectly described my condition, then I could see. Seeing my condition and seeing and beginning to understand the actions of my Creator for my personal benefit, it was so overwhelming, so very overwhelming, what response could I possibly muster up? The gift was so big, so all encompassing, so unconditionally loving that falling down before Him as a dead man is now totally relatable. I found out, He is worthy!
