Gal.1:15,16 – But when He who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles,
Paul’s letters, and even his sentences, are absolutely loaded with divine revelation. How could they not, they were pregnant with the revelation of Jesus Christ conceived in the Apostle Paul on his journey to Damascus. Christ was revealed to him, Paul’s purpose was revealed to Him, and God’s plan for the ages began to be unfolded to the Apostle Paul. Today’s verses are packed with divine revelation. This passage speaks of being separated unto God, called into His purposes, and Jesus Himself revealed in and to us. Here is how the Believer’s Bible Commentary describes this passage.
“God … separated me from my mother’s womb. Paul realized that even before his birth, he had been set apart by God for a special work. He adds that God called me through His grace, referring to his conversion on the road to Damascus. If he had received what he deserved at that moment, he would have been cast into hell. But Christ, in wonderful grace, saved him and sent him out to preach the faith he had sought to destroy. In verse 16 he shows that God intended to reveal His Son in him. This gives us a wonderful view of God’s purpose in calling us-to reveal His Son in us, so that we may represent the Lord Jesus to the world. He reveals Christ to our hearts in order that He may display Christ through us in order that God may be glorified in this display. Paul’s special assignment was to preach Christ among the Gentiles.”
Coming in contact with Christ gives you a sense of eternity. Paul began to see the hand of God on his life from his birth. If you belong to Him you will begin to see this too; you are separated from birth to the plans of God. Paul also began to experience the calling of God. The calling comes from drinking the cup of grace. His divine attraction and satisfaction pulls us out of darkness and bad choices into the beautiful world of His grace. Finally, Christ was revealed to Paul and in Paul. These two things work hand in hand. The moment you meet Him He begins to reveal Himself inside of you. What is the purpose? He wants to glorify Himself in this world through your life.
