Isa.4:5,6 – TPT – Then Yahweh will create over all of Mount Zion

and over every gathering a cloud of smoke by day

and a glow of flaming fire by night.

And all this manifestation of dazzling glory

will spread over them like a wedding canopy.

It will be a tabernacle as a shade

from the scorching heat of the day

and a safe shelter to protect them from the storm and rain.

This has to be one of the most powerful and descriptive looks at the Lord’s church at the end of the age. It is not weak and hiding but glorious and powerful. Isaiah describes the church as incredibly supernatural. Of course Mount Zion is a prophetic word for the church in the whole earth in the last of days. It is marked by a supernatural sign that resides on it like the children of Israel in their wilderness journey. Can you imagine the effect this will have on the world? Apparently there will be a cloud encompassing the gathering of the Lord’s people during the day and a glowing fire at night. This will cause quite a stir, God’s glory on display. Here is how Brian Simmons describes this passage.

“The Hebrew word ch̦uppâ always denotes the marriage chamber. As part of a Jewish wedding ceremony, the bride and bridegroom would be overshadowed by a canopy (ch̦uppâ). This marriage chamber will provide peace, rest, and security for the bride of Christ. The overshadowing tabernacle points to the Lord Jesus Christ, who ‘tabernacled’ among us (John 1:14). This is the same Hebrew word (cukkah) used in Amos 9:11 to describe the “tabernacle (tent) of David” that God promises to restore on the earth with night-and-day worship before the unveiled presence of God.”

I believe we haven’t seen anything yet. We have experienced major outpourings over the last fifty years in the church; we have been overcome by His power, enraptured with His love, and intoxicated with His joy. If this passage (and others) are correct, a season of unprecedented signs and wonders is yet to come. The church gathering is becoming a place of healing love that covers us like a blanket. In this place of intimacy with God all things are possible. Many heroin and opioid users are being freed, alcoholics made new, immoral people are finding purity and holiness, and the sick and oppressed are being healed. This is the day of His outpouring; I think I can smell the fire and smoke of heaven.
