Ps.150:3-6 – Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!
Shortly after I was impacted by the outpouring of the Spirit in 1994 I was attracted to the ministry of Jonathan Edwards. I guess the thing that struck me was the unusual combination of academia as well as an embracing of the outpouring of the Spirit in the American colonies seen in the life and ministry of Jonathan Edwards. Why this effected me so much was that our understanding and our emotions are strongly effected by the Holy Spirit. Here was someone who was thoroughly entrenched in the theology of the reformation and was awestruck by the outpouring of the Spirit. When our head and our heart embrace the move of God things will never be the same. Here is how Edwards describes worshipping the Lord.
“When you praise him in prayer, let it not be with coldness and indifferency; when you praise him in your closet, let your whole soul be active therein; when you praise him in singing, don’t barely make a noise, without any stirring of affection in the heart, without any internal melody. Surely, you have reason to shout, cry, “Grace, grace, be the topstone of the temple!” Certainly, you don’t want mercy and bounty to praise God; you only want a heart and lively affections to praise him with.
Surely, if the angels are so astonished at God’s mercy to you, and do even shout with joy and admiration at the sight of God’s grace to you, you yourself, on whom this grace is bestowed, have much more reason to shout.”
I guess you can tell a lot about someone by the things they shout about. We shout at football games (winning or losing), we shout at incredibly good financial news, maybe there is even a shout at a wedding reception. What do you shout about? Shouting is simply a release of emotion for things we feel strongly about. So…….Have your sins been washed away by the blood of Jesus? Has He filled you with His Holy Spirit? Have you been adopted as a son (or daughter) into His family? Is heaven in your future? If so, just maybe its time to shout for joy.

I shout about the way He keeps me surrounded by Heavenly Glory. Whether I’m watching a sunrise or sunset, walking at the lake, surrounded by others that are called (and communicating such), gazing at creatures and flowers ~ I know that He is near; as I seek God, his Presence engulfs the atmosphere. I’m never alone, in-spite of my Son’s and my Mother’s passing on to Glory ; I tap into Heaven on Earth by singing (I’d say loudly) with a Thankful heart🥳
