Heb.1:2 – God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world.
Do you believe we are at the end of this age? What does that mean? What will the coming age be like? Before all of that, what will the end of this age be like. For the unsaved person, seeing the upheaval that is all around us can be quite unnerving. To the natural eye things seem to be out of control, speeding to some kind of apocalyptic meltdown. To those who know Jesus and are in tune to His prophetic time clock, we can rest in the assurance that everything is proceeding according to His meticulous plans. He has everything in perfect control. There is insight into God’s orchestration of all things in today’s passage. This is how Wuest explains it.
“The word “worlds” is the translation of aionas. The word here includes according to Alford, “God’s revelation of Himself in a sphere whose conditions are Time and Space, and so all things existing under these conditions, plus these conditions themselves which exist not independently of the Creator, but are His work, His appointed conditions of all created existence, so that the universe, as well in its great primeval conditions,—the reaches of Space, and the ages of Time, as in all material objects and all successive events, which furnish out and people Space and Time, God made by Christ.” The idea in the word aionas is not merely that of the vastness and magnificence of the physical universe, but the thought of the times and ages through which the purpose and plan of God are gradually unfolding. Thus, the Son is the Divine Agent not only in the original creation of the physical universe, but also in the operation and management of that universe and all its creatures all down the ages of time.”
So the Lord not only created the physical universe, He also created time. The unfolding ages are all part of the masterpiece of His creative wisdom. We have the privelege of living at the end of one age and feel the anticipation of the coming of the next one, the reign of Christ on earth. Everything is moving forward according to His perfect plan. Just buckle up and enjoy the ride.
