THE MOMENT OF CREATION

Mk.6:41 – And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He gave them to the disciples again and again to set before them; and He divided the two fish among them all.

This passage in Mark is very descriptive, it describes the moment the multiplication of the bread took place. It is actually more obvious in the original language describing the miracle taking place in Jesus hands after the breaking of the bread just before He gave it to the disciples. You could say this is reminiscent of the moment of creation, everything that is formed by the hand of the Lord. The amazing thing about the Lord, He is still creating like this everyday. He orchestrates all creation to satisfy the need of all of His creatures. Here is how Ephrem the Syrian describes this moment.

“Take note therefore of how his [creative] activity is mixed in with everything. When our Lord took a little bread, he multiplied it in the twinkling of an eye. That which [people] effect and transform in ten months with toil, his ten fingers effected in an instant. For he placed his hands beneath the bread as though it were earth, and spoke over it as though thunder. The murmur of his lips sprinkled over it like rain, and the breath of his mouth [was there] in place of the sun. [Thus] did he complete in the flash of one tiny moment something which requires a whole lengthy hour. One tiny amount of bread was forgotten, and from the midst of its smallness, abundance came to birth so that it might be like the first blessing, “Give birth and be fruitful and multiply.” The loaves of bread, like barren women and women deprived [of children], became fruitful at his blessing, and many were the morsels born from them.”

We too are His creatures and He loves to take care of all of our need. Don’t even think you are forgotten, in the most least likely of moments He breaks into your world and feeds you from His hands. Not only that, you can also be the tool He uses to distribute His provision to a hungry world. Draw near to Him today, like the little boy in the story place your meager supply into His hands. Then you can sit back and watch the moment of creation right before your eyes.
