HE WILL SET ME ON HIGH

Ps.91:14,15 – Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;

I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble;

I will deliver him and honor him.

This is a promise for those who love Him and those who know His name. What does it mean to know the name of the Lord? Jesus said that His name took on a new authority after the resurrection. This authority was given to the man Jesus of Nazareth who was given authority over the entire universe. Jesus is enthroned at the Father’s right hand, the place of honor, where He is worshipped by the inhabitants of heaven. When you know His name, the power and authority in His name, you will love Him. When you love Him you will be set on high. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this.

“That he will exalt and dignify them: I will set him on high, out of the reach of trouble, above the stormy region, on a rock above the waves. They shall be enabled, by the grace of God, to look down upon the things of this world with a holy contempt and indifference, to look up to the things of the other world with a holy ambition and concern; and then they are set on high. I will honor him; those are truly honorable whom God puts honor upon by taking them into covenant and communion with himself and designing them for his kingdom and glory.”

We have been given the highest place of honor imaginable; we are sons of God, we have His Spirit within us, we are seated with Him in heavenly places, and we will reign with Him for eternity. He has truly set us up on high with Him. In this life He is causing all things to work together for our good. We carry His Name and have authority over all the power of the enemy. We lay our hands on the sick and they recover, we cast out devils, and we speak in His beautiful heavenly language of intimacy. The world will try to dishonor us just like it did to Him but to no avail. So let’s turn our heart toward heaven and set our love on our Beloved Who is seated on the throne. We worship Him and His power is poured out again and again and again.
