2 Cor.9:15 – Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

I have often wondered what Paul was saying in this verse; how could he settle on any one gift that God has given us. There are many God given gifts and I would have to say that they are all indescribable. Here are a few of God’s gifts that I enjoy, hope you enjoy them too!!!

THE GIFT OF HIS SON

This is a display of God’s love for us that is way beyond our comprehension. The Lord has loved us in our rebellious state to such a degree that He gave His Son to be a sacrificial offering for our sin. This is God’s love in action, He gave His best gift to those who deserve it least.

  1. THE GIFT OF SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH

The results of the death of God’s only Son is eternal salvation. This amazing gift is reserved not for the best of mankind but possibly for the worst. Paul himself was an angry, violent murderer of Christians until he came face to face with Jesus. The results of that encounter was God’s indescribable gift, Paul received the gift of salvation by grace through faith.

  1. THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the blessed Trinity is also a gift given to us by the Lord. This is the result of the death of God’s Son, He purchased for us this also unspeakable gift with His blood. This is really beyond indescribable, God Himself has come to live in us and fill us with all that He is.

  1. THE GIFT OF FAVOR FOR PROSPERITY

This passage in 2 Corinthians is describing supernatural provision and supernatural giving. This gift of God was certainly on Paul’s mind as he tried to find words to describe the gift of God. God provides seed for sowing, the grace of liberality that we give, and then blesses the seed to bring more provision into our lives. This gift of prosperity is beyond words.

  1. THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE WITH HIM

This final gift on my list is just the culmination of all of the others. one day soon we will be with the Lord in eternity. We will be amazed at the beauty of the new heavens and the new earth with no hint of the fall corrupting it. Regardless of how breathtaking heaven will be, it is our fellowship with Him that will leave us without words. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.
