Rev.1:3 – Blessed is the one who reads, and those who hear the words of the prophecy and keep the things which are written in it; for the time is near.
This is one of the verses that caught my attention when I first read the book of Revelation, I couldn’t remember any other book in the Bible (or anywhere else for that matter) that claimed to carry a blessing for just reading it. That tells me just how significant it is and how it would be a huge mistake not to read it. In this prophetic book we have the unveiling of Christ, a look into heaven, and a look into things to come. For those who believe it and embrace it there is great comfort because the victory of Christ and His church is certain. Here is how a Bible teacher from Israel, Amir Tsarfati, describes today’s verse.
“Why should we read the words of this prophecy? What should be our motivation to hear these words and to keep the commands written in it? Because it’s God’s Word. That should be enough. But like a father who loves to give treats to his child when they are doing the right thing, He says, “By the way, when you do what you should be doing, I’m going to bless you to pieces.” This blessing comes in many forms. Among them is the fact that we can know what is coming for this world. God wants “us to be aware of what is ahead. He wants us to prepare ourselves and our families for His return. In Israel, we have sirens that sound when our unhappy neighbors to the south and to the north decide to fire rockets into our country. When we hear their wail, we all scramble for the nearest shelter until the danger passes. Thus, we become doubly blessed—we have knowledge of the attack, and we have safety in the shelters.”
Here in the USA we are not familiar with bomb shelters and actual war taking place on our land. There has not been an invasion of our country since the time of the American Revolution. Hopefully that won’t happen but nevertheless the earth is going through the final transition of this age to God’s kingdom age. Revelation becomes an anchor for us even as we read it, filling our heart and mind with the expectancy of the coming reign of Christ. Read the book of Revelation often, prepare your heart for what’s next. Allow the blessing of reading this book to saturate your life.

1 thought on “THE BLESSING OF READING REVELATIONS”
When the good pastors have been stirred, their unselfish hearts pouring their life’s efforts both leading by example and words with the blessed results from faithfulness, we would be wise to give attention. Leading out this new year with a call to read and digest the book of Revelation “often” If you really need a why, “He wants us to prepare ourselves and our families for His return” Sounds to me like a 2024 prophesy because “God wants us to be aware of what’s ahead.”
