Ps.16:11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
This passage gives us a foretaste of our heavenly inheritance. This is a verse Peter preached from when he was filled with the Holy Spirit, he began to see for himself the greatness of our inheritance which is God Himself. This blessing was a promise but more than a promise, Peter was tasting the edge of ‘pleasures evermore’ which will be ours for eternity. Spurgeon was enthralled with this verse and quoted John Trappe’s comments on this verse.
“Trappe’s note on the heavenly verse which closes the Psalm is a sweet morsel, which may serve for a contemplation, and yield a foretaste of our inheritance. He writes, “Here is as much said as can be, but words are too weak to utter it. For quality there is in heaven joy and pleasures; for quantity, a fulness, a torrent whereat they drink without let or loathing; for constancy (faithful, dependable), it is at God’s right hand, who is stronger than all, neither can any take us out of his hand; it is constant happiness without intermission: and for perpetuity it is for evermore. Heaven’s joys are without measure, mixture, or end.”
Let’s take a moment and reflect on these observations by John Trappe. He said that the quality of this pleasure is heavenly, in other words, there are no earthly joys that can compare. As far as quantity is concerned he said there is a fullness. Trappe described this fullness as a torrent that speaks to us of an inexhaustible river. How long has the vast volume of water flowed down the Mississippi River? After thousands of years, there is always abundance, it is never depleted. The joys of heaven are a vast torrent that can never be depleted. Trappe also said that this pleasure was constant or dependable. It never goes away or disappears because this pleasure is God the Holy Spirit Himself. Like Jesus, His name is faithful and true. Like Trappe says, ‘it is a constant happiness without intermission’. This happiness is perpetual, it will be our inheritance throughout the ages; it can’t be measured, it is not intermingled with other things, and it will have no end.
So if you are stuck on the roller coaster of earthly pleasures and joys maybe it’s time for a change. The pleasures of this world are temporary, expensive, over-rated, and always bring unpleasant consequences. Yes, I think it’s time to look to Jesus and let Him flood you with the torrent of heaven’s joy.

Love what Trappe says. The joys of heaven are a vast torrent that can never be depleted. Trappe also said that this pleasure was constant or dependable. It never goes away or disappears because this pleasure is God the Holy Spirit Himself.
A dear friend of mine wanted to go to church with me last Sunday. I don’t know why but I was apprehensive about it at first. But I began to realize I wanted him to experience the joy I received from God each day. It is constant and dependable in my life. He told me he has never experienced a church like mine. The people were dancing and speaking (tongues) and singing. He said he didn’t know the songs but he read them on the screen and tried to follow. He listened to the minister and what he said was good. He wants to come back this Sunday to the anniversary and asked me to pick him up since he has no car. I told him yes I would. The only complaint he had was his body. He has had back surgery and suffers with lots of pain in neck, back, and legs. He had seen how I moved around so freely in church. I told him it was all God. 🙌🙌🙌
I want Paul to experience God’s inexhaustible river. Always dependable … never failing.
