We recently had Saturation meetings at our church for three nights. Saturation should be a consistent part of a Christian’s life giving them a chance to soak in God’s presence. Whether we are conscious of it our not we saturate in something everyday. I think of it like this, we all live in an atmosphere of something everyday. It’s the atmosphere at work, your home life, and the things you choose to do and places you choose to go. We are effected by the atmosphere we live in. It is sort of an osmosis where we take in the atmosphere we live in.
This brings us back to spiritual saturation and what I call soaking. We must intentionally put ourselves in an environment where the atmosphere is actually the Holy Spirit, this will dramatically change our lives. I want to share three passages from John today that describe how we can do this. As you can see each instance is a form of actually ingesting or taking God in. First is the Bread of Life, we can take in this bread when we take communion and also when we feast on Christ by devouring His word.
Jn.6:35 – And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst”.
Secondly is the breath of life. Just as the Lord breathed into Adam to give him life, Jesus breathed on the disciples after the resurrection and gave them life, the very breath of God. Here is how it reads in John.
Jn.20:21,22 – So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit”.
Finally Jesus said that He would give us Living Water every time we come to Him. If we drink the water He has to give we will never thirst or long after the things of this life. Here is how it reads in John.
Jn.7:37,38 – On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
You can take these three passages and think about them and think about what Jesus is saying. Eat His body, breathe in His life, drink the Living Water and you will certainly change the atmosphere you live in. Taking the Lord as your bread, your breath, and your drink will take you into a totally different kind of life.

I thank You Jesus that You are my living water. I need Your presence daily in my life.
