HE WILL WIPE AWAY EVERY TEAR

Rev.21:4 -He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.

One of the things I can’t quite seem to comprehend is the way we will see Jesus in the heavenly Kingdom. I know He became a man and returned to heaven as a man, He represents me before the Father as a man, and rules all things as a man. I also know that John saw Jesus in heaven in His glory being worshipped by all creation. That’s exactly what Paul called the mystery of God, Jesus will be seen in His humanity and His deity in eternity.
Now that brings us to today’s passage, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away”. I think just seeing Christ for ourselves in this heavenly arena will accomplish all that this verse promises. In one moment all of the past drama will be gone and we will be beginning the adventure of all adventures, enjoying God for all eternity. Here is how Edwards describes this verse.

“The pleasure of seeing God is so great and strong that it takes the full possession of the heart; it fills it brimful, so that there shall be no room for any sorrow, no room in any corner for anything of an adverse nature from joy. There is no darkness can bear such powerful light. It is impossible that they that see God face to face, that behold his glory and love so immediately as they do in heaven, should have any such thing as grief or pain in their hearts. When once the saints are thus come into God’s presence, tears shall be wiped from their eyes and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. The pleasure will be so great as fully and perfectly to employ every faculty. The sight of God’s glory and love will be so wonderful, so engaging to the mind, and shall keep all the powers of it in such strong attention, that the soul will be wholly possessed and taken up.”

All of our lives have been packed with sorrow and anxiety, that will all be gone in an instant. Joy will swallow up sadness and worry will be a distant memory in the light of His sufficiency. Each of us will see Him as He is, that will be all we need. In that moment we will all realize what our lives have been about all along, to display His glorious grace through our testimony.

  1. I can think of nothing more anticipated than the removal of the barriers that minimize our capacity to be full and stay fully connected to the unimaginable depth of knowing and experiencing our Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. To be so full and remain that way with all other distractions incapable of taking up space as we know things currently. I can’t even close my eyes and enjoy it long enough yet, but it is getting closer as the days are counting down.

  2. Love this 💚….I think of that Great Day often where the leaves never wither and flowers never fade, where we will no longer struggle with the pull of sin and death. When we enter the real Promised Land… full of glory and amazing grace 🌈😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️🥰
Where the River flows through us totally with no hindrances..ahhhh.. 😌😌!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
