HE IS PRAYING FOR US

Rom.8:33,34 – Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

This is one of those passages that seems so good that it is really hard to believe that this is real – BUT IT IS – Paul describes that no charges against us can stand because we have the death of Christ working on our behalf. Death is the ultimate consequence for man’s sin, in this passage Paul describes the death of death so that we can live a new kind of life. Paul doesn’t stop at our justification because of the death of Christ but proceeds to the throne at the right hand of God. Here he says that we can’t be condemned or defeated because Christ is seated by the Father praying for each of us. Here is how Adam Clarke describes this.

“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect?—God who justifieth? Who is he that condemneth?— Christ who died? or, rather, who is risen again? He, who is at the right hand of God? He, who maketh intercession for us? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?—Tribulation? or distress? or persecution? or famine? or nakedness? or peril? or sword?” In all these questions the apostle intimates that if neither GOD nor CHRIST would bring any charge against them who love him, none else could. And as God justifies through Christ who died, consequently no charge can lie against these persons, as God alone could produce any; and He, so far from doing this, has justified them-freely forgiven their trespasses. Who is even at the right hand of God. To which he has exalted our human nature, which he took in conjunction with his Divinity; and there he maketh intercession for us- manages all the concerns of his own kingdom in general, and of every member of his Church in particular.”

This is one of the most encouraging promises or declarations that I see in all of God’s word, Christ is for me, He died for me, and He is praying constantly for me. I am not just one on His infinitely long list of prayer requests, I am continually on His heart and He prays for me without stopping. How can I possibly lose? He is praying and orchestrating God’s kingdom plans for my life. I will not fear because He is for me and with me.
