MIXED MULTITUDE

“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9–10).

This passage gives us another look at the matchless mercy of God showing that even in the middle of the Tribulation period with man in full rebellion against the Lord He is still reaching out to the lost. Apparently there is a large number of Israelis that get saved and become a sign and wonder to the nations. This creates an atmosphere where many thousands, possibly millions of a mixed multitude from all nations come to Christ. Our understanding of the Lord tends to be limited, I think everyone is going to be shocked by His sudden and unpredictable actions that He takes in these last days. Even now, before the Tribulation begins, we since the urgency building along with a great anticipation of the things to come. The days ahead of us will contain some of the most tragic yet greatest events in history. All I can say is come Lord Jesus. Here is how Amir Tsarfati describes these events.

“This great multitude of martyred tribulation believers is made up of both Jews and Gentiles. Those hostile to God killed them. Then the Lord welcomed them into His presence. They went from hell on earth to the throne room of heaven. Like the martyrs of chapter 6, they are calling out to the Lord. However, the message of this group is not a petition for more judgment but praise for their salvation.

Although the physical predicament of this multitude may be different from ours, our spiritual situation was exactly the same as theirs. We were all once destined for an eternity apart from God. Then, because of the sacrifice of Jesus, our eternal death became eternal life. The prophet Isaiah stated it so beautifully:”

“All we like sheep have gone astray; “we have turned, every one, to his own way;

and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

yet He opened not His mouth;

He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,

and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,

so He opened not His mouth (Isaiah 53:6–7).”

One of the biggest challenges for Christians is to think they have it all sorted out in regard to the coming prophetic events. Let me say it this way, it will never turn out the way you think. The Lord’s plans are bigger and more inclusive than we could ever imagine. This mindset that you have it all figured out is what caused the problems for the Jews at Christ’s first appearance. He didn’t come the way they thought He would and they missed their moment. We must stay open and stay close to the Lord so that we avoid the same mistakes.
