Matt.18:18,19 – Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.
“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.
The place of spiritual harmony found in His true church, leads to liberation from the chains of bondage and addictions. First, the chains of sin are broken from off of our lives as we experience the unity of the Spirit in corporate worship which brings us into the commanded blessing of the Lord. All of us were born in a fallen state, bound by the sinful pleasures of this world. The natural man can only find fulfillment, though it is temporary, from the pleasures offered to us in this life. When this lost one calls out to the Lord for salvation it comes with an attraction to Christ, and a new sense of being loved by God.This is our introduction to the life of Christ found in the company of other believers where every kind of chain and addiction is broken.
The beginning of this deliverance from the chains of this life often happen to us when we are with other believers in worship and prayer. When we gather in His Name He is present with us, “whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven”.
What kinds of things are we ‘loosed’ from in this life? The first chain is the power of sin that holds us in its grasp until Christ sets us free. It all starts with a change of heart which is called repentance. Repentance comes as we sense God’s holy presence, often in worship we have a new awareness of God and become convicted of our sinful life and in that atmosphere chains of bondage are broken off of us. These chains are things like addiction to alcohol or drugs. This often takes place in corporate worship services, the chains of addiction to these substances are broken by the Holy Spirit as we begin to enter into God’s presence.
Another bondage that is broken in this place of commanded blessing is the attachment to sexual impurity and pornography. Sin has twisted our view of intimacy and causes us to fall into bondage to sexual impurity and it is only the power of God that can break that chain from our life and bring us into a place of purity. Worshipping the Lord with His people breaks that bondage from off of our life and brings us into a place of purity where we see the blessing of God in the intimacy of marriage that the Lord has given us.
If you are in bondage to any type of chain in this life there is a place of freedom available to you. David called it the COMMANDED BLESSING of the Lord. Whether your problem is depression, physical infirmity, or even poverty there is a place found in God’s presence among His people where you can be totally free. Coming to Jesus and being involved in a church is the place where this Commanded blessing of God will capture you and bring the blessing of God into every arena of your life.
