TRANSPORTATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

2 Cor.13:14 – The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

This word communion is packed with shades of meaning. It obviously describes the communion we celebrate through the body and blood of Jesus, it describes the fellowship we enjoy with other believers in the body of Christ. It also speaks of intimacy with the Lord as we walk in close communion with Him. The word also describes partnership, partnership with God is critical in order to live a victorious life. Dr. Cho said that communion also refers to communicating with or traveling together, transporting with. Here is a quote from Dr. Cho about the communication of the Spirit.

“The splendid development of transportation has made the world a global town. Through this rapid and convenient transportation system, people all over the world share what is needed to meet their cultural, political, economic, military, and scientific needs. It is not an exaggeration to say that you can measure a civilization by the development of its transportation system. Suppose this global transportation system were suddenly brought to a standstill. The whole world would become a living hell. Almost every kind of work would ultimately be paralyzed. Cities would suffer from hunger and cold, as fuel and food supplies would stop. Rural areas and factories would become heaped with decaying farm products and commodities as marketing channels would be clogged. Transportation is no dispensable convenience. It is necessary to human welfare. Likewise, the communion of the Holy Spirit—daily traveling and constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit—is essential for our spiritual well-being.”

Us folks from New Orleans understand this quite well. We saw our transportation and communication system paralyzed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I had a Dallas area code for two years for Pete’s sake. We were dependent on ministries from around the country to support and feed us for at least a year. Communication and transportation is critical. The sad thing is that man is separated from God’s transportation and communication until the day he is filled with the Holy Spirit and learns to depend upon Him in all things.

This is exactly why Jesus emphasized the importance of everyone to be filled with the Spirit when He departed. Don’t go anywhere or do anything until you are filled, this was the only way to reach the world.
