BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL

SOS 5:16 – His mouth is most sweet,

Yes, he is altogether lovely.

Ps.45:2 – TPT – Beautiful! Beautiful! Beyond the sons of men!

Elegant grace pours out through every word you speak.

Truly God has anointed you, his favored one, for eternity!

This is the spiritual attraction that changes our lives, the matchless beauty of Christ. This is not natural beauty or attraction, Isaiah made this very clear for us in Isaiah 53:2 –

“For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,

And as a root out of dry ground.

He has no form or comeliness;

And when we see Him,

There is no beauty that we should desire Him.”

Apparently Jesus of Nazareth was quite ordinary in His physical features, it was not natural beauty that makes Him so desirable. So what is this beauty that makes Christ irresistible to those who love Him? It’s the internal beauty that can be defined as goodness, this beauty flows out from Him and reveals his nature. The anointing that was upon Him in His earthly ministry and the heavenly anointing that flows out from Him today is the manifestation of goodness. This presence is the love of God that attracts us, captures us, transforms us, and makes us whole. Anyone who tastes this love has to agree, He is ALTOGETHER LOVELY. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this beauty that emanates from the Lord.

“Here is a full assurance of faith about the complete beauty of the LORD Jesus: “He is altogether lovely. Why am I standing around here mentioning these details when throughout there is nothing wrong with him?” She is aware that she is wronging him in the particular descriptions of him, and that she falls far short of what her subject honorably deserves, and so she breaks off with this general praise: “He is truly lovely, he is wholly so; there is nothing in him but what is delightful, and nothing delightful except what is in him.” “He is all desires”; he has all in him that you could possibly desire. All her desire is therefore toward him, and so she anxiously seeks him and cannot rest contented in his absence. Surely we must love One who is so lovely.”

So to the natural, unsaved person Jesus seems to just be ordinary like Isaiah described, nothing special here. But to us who have tasted His goodness we have been introduced to an incomparable beauty not like anything we can find in creation. He is BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL and He loves me.

  1. I love Him because He first loved me. He loved me when I did not know love. He loved me when I was unlovable, He loved me when I did not love myself. And He poured that love out on Calvary, and with the joy that set before Him, He embraced that tree to declare His love for me. It was His love that gave Him life, and the power of that love that broke the chains of death. He rose up lifting me with that love. He taught me to love as He loved, a love I can not contain, a love that flows like a river through my being.

    I remember the first time I walked through the doors of Victory on Transcontinental. It wasn’t the exuberant praise, or passionate preaching of a young Jesus freak, it was the undeniable, tangible presence of Love that hit me the second I stepped into the lobby. I was overcome by an unfathomable Love.
