Isa.40:31 – But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
I used to look forward to the visits of Dick Mills to our church, especially when he came to be with us at the beginning of a new year. The prophetic anointing on his life and insight into the ways of the Lord seemed to center me and our church as we prepared for a new year. Brother Mills often prophesied about the renewing power of the Spirit using today’s verse of scripture. I remember one time he gave a word to several people in our church regarding the downswing of adversity and the upswing of renewal. For whatever reason the Lord often shows up when we are at our lowest and lifts us up into a new season of spiritual blessing. If 2025 has been a tough year for you I have good news, I believe a turnaround is in store for you as you wait on the Lord and let the power of the Spirit bring renewal into your life. Here is how the Fire Bible describes today’s verse.
“To hope in the Lord means to trust him completely with our lives and to serve him faithfully. We are to wait patiently for his promises and purposes to be fulfilled. Those who truly have put their hope in God will turn to him quickly as their source of help in time of need. Those who hope in the Lord are promised: (1) God’s strength to revive and refresh them when they feel exhausted from suffering and difficulty; (2) the ability to rise above their difficulties like an eagle that soars into the sky; and (3) the ability to run spiritually without tiring and to make steady progress without giving up when it seems that God’s plan is delayed. God promises that if his people will patiently trust him, he will provide whatever they need in his perfect time until they are united with him forever.”
I love this, renewal is always flowing out from the Lord. His very nature is a nature of creativity and life is always flowing out from Him. Start out this year waiting on the Lord, that is a good way to position yourself for a season of signs, wonders, and miracles.
