Matt.28:1-4 – Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
The world could never be the same after what happened that first Resurrection morning. A new prophetic day for all man had begun, Christ had risen and nothing would ever quite be the same again . First of all the first man, Jesus Christ, had actually conquered death. Death would no longer reign in terror over us, Christ became the first-fruits of all of God’s sons and daughters who would also be raised from the dead and be given glorified bodies like Christ’s body.
Before the great resurrection day would come for all of us the new kingdom age had already begun. The gospel of the death and resurrection of Christ would be preached to all nations before that great day of God’s final harvest.
From that first Resurrection Day fallen man could now be born again. Peter said it himself like this, 1 Peter 1:3 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”. All that believe in the death and resurrection of Christ would be born again, actually given a brand new nature and would be inhabited by the Spirit of God. These new believers would also be given supernatural, resurrection power to enable them to live a supernatural life as well as proclaim the message of the resurrection in the power of signs and wonders. Also, this brand new day would include having access immediately into the very presence of God. Jesus has gone to live in the fulness of that atmosphere which will be our ultimate home as well. In the meantime we can come into His presence by faith in His sacrificial blood in the power of the resurrection.
That first Easter when the disciples came to the tomb at the dawning of the new day they were not quite sure what it all meant, they just knew that the world and their lives had been permanently changed.
