IT IS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

John 16:1-7 – These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you. But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Jesus is sharing the intimate details of His reason for coming to earth as a man. John said that He tabernacled among us so that we would see His glory. He displayed the glory of God through His life, His teaching, His miracles, His death, and His resurrection. Now the time had come for Him to bring us into the glory that Jesus had enjoyed from eternity. How would He do such an amazing thing for us? He did this by entering heaven as a sinless man on our behalf, becoming our heavenly intercessor, and receiving the Promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit. From His place of glory, sitting at the Father’s right hand, the Lord is drawing many of His people into the house of God.

If you have been playing spiritual games it may just be time to recognize that there is more to life than a simple belief in Jesus Christ. There is a clear calling for those who have ears to hear to draw near to God and receive the power of His presence for every part of your life. His presence is like nothing else in this life. This is what this final message of Jesus was to His disciples. Don’t be afraid, I will send Him to you. This is your advantage over everyone else in the world, we have supernatural help in everything we do.
