“Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning” Mark 13:25
I never realized how many times the scripture mentions the “midnight hour”. From Passover night when the Lord struck all the firstborn in Egypt, Boaz startled at midnight by Ruth being at his feet, Samson breaking down the doors to the city at midnight, to the cry at midnight when the ten virgins woke up suddenly, and of course Paul and Silas praying at midnight when all of a sudden the doors were shaking, to the wicked steward that Jesus talked about that didn’t think the master would come.
Midnight is a time of divine transition when God steps into our world to bring a breakthrough of judgment and mercy. Song of Solomon mentions the Shulamite confessing that she was asleep but awake, while the Bridegroom had his hand on her door. All ten virgins were sleeping when the cry was made at midnight. Jesus asked Peter could he not tarry for an hour during Christ’s midnight hour. All were asleep until the cry at midnight exposed their hearts. Delays turned deadly and our hearts become hardened.
You could say midnight is the hour of unveiling. The Foolish virgins lacked supply and didn’t value the oil, whereas the Wise carried something on them. The oil represents more than the anointing, it represents intimacy and devotion and the midnight hour exposed them all. It all happened so fast the foolish couldn’t even go to buy the oil.
Also the midnight hour is supernaturally charged with urgency, visitation and a holy separation. We can be prepared for our midnights by daily dressing ourselves in readiness. To know with a Holy Ghost intuitive what season we are in. I pray the midnight bell is ringing for you! Wake up my friend, when the alarm clock goes off its time to respond. The midnight hour is upon us and we don’t want the master to show up when we aren’t ready. Value the oil that was given to you. We have been oversleeping and in our nightgowns far too long! Get up and get out of bed, take off the filthy garments of this world and put on Christ!
