Heb.1:1,2 – God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
God hath spoken! God is always speaking. The question is are your ears opened to hear His voice? Are you listening? God hath spoken. He speaks through His written word, He speaks through His church, He speaks through the preaching of His word but most of all He is speaking in and through His Son. When our ears begin to hear His voice we begin to touch the supernatural life. His redemptive work in our life becomes real, His promises become real, and His presence is real and very sweet to us. We begin to live a different life, a supernatural life. Here are some powerful comments on this from Andrew Murray.
“God hath spoken in His Son! The ministry of angels and prophets was only to prepare the way; it never could satisfy the heart either of God or man; the real power of the life of God, the full experience of His nearness, the true deliverance from sin, the shedding abroad of the love in the heart,— this could not be communicated by the ministry of creatures. The Son Himself had to come as the Word of God to us, the bearer of the life and love of the Father. The Son Himself had to come to bring us into living contact with the divine Being, to dwell in our heart, as He dwells in God’s heart, to be in us God’s word as He is in God, and so to give us the living experience of what it means that God speaks to us.”
It’s in the word of the Lord that we become aware of God’s love for us: His nearness, His willingness to work on our behalf and His nearness to us. I think it is His nearness which is the most special. His nearness brings me comfort, His nearness brings me power, His nearness brings me boldness, and His nearness fills me with His supernatural joy. God hath spoken!! As a matter of fact He is speaking to us. If you don’t hear His voice the answer to that is right there in this verse. He is speaking to us in His Son. Look to Jesus, fix you heart on Him and you will hear His amazing voice for yourself.
