HEALING AND PROSPERITY FLOW FROM OUR UNION

Acts 4:29-33 – Empower us, as your servants, to speak the word of God freely and courageously. Stretch out your hand of power through us to heal, and to move in signs and wonders by the name of your holy Son, Jesus!”

At that moment the earth shook beneath them, causing the building they were in to tremble. Each one of them was filled with the Holy Spirit, and they proclaimed the word of God with unrestrained boldness.

All the believers were one in mind and heart. Selfishness was not a part of their community, for they shared everything they had with one another. The apostles gave powerful testimonies about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great measures of grace rested upon them all.

You would have to say the early church was quite supernatural. The power of God that fell on the church on the Day of Pentecost was affecting every part of these new believers lives and was also having quite an impact on the city of Jerusalem. Apparently there were quite a number of healing miracles that happened in those early days such as the lame man in the temple and the apparent multitudes that were healed in the streets from the shadow of glory resting upon Peter. There were also an abundance of financial miracles taking place. Many landholders sold their properties and gave the proceeds to the church. It actually says that there was no needy among them in those early days.

This special season in Jerusalem causes me to think back to the days following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Thousands of people had lost their homes in New Orleans but the outpouring of generosity from Christians all over the world met the needs of God’s people when many of the government programs were broken and overcome with corruption. Jerusalem had some unusual needs after the death of Christ as well. There had been at least two catastrophic earthquakes associated with the death and resurrection of Christ as well as thousands of displaced people from around the region who had come to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover and Pentecost. The love that was in the church was supernatural and contagious. The results were thousands of conversions, mass healings, and supernatural provision. Christianity was alive and well and the world would never be the same. Maybe its time for another God visitation in this generation, the Lord knows we need one.
