HELP EVERY DAY

Acts 16:22 – So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place,

Paul said that he was given the ability to stand and preach every day because he had been given help from God. If you want to catch some real blow back start preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. You can be into yoga, Islam, meditation, or basically anything and the world will applaud you. If you dare to preach the gospel of Christ you are going to find quite a different response. Paul found that out rather quickly; he experienced criticism, rejection, insults, arrests, and beatings all throughout his ministry. Everything was fine until he began to tell the story of how Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus. As soon as he began to do that the beatings began. Things haven’t changed that much today, the gospel is either life or death to the hearers. You will be both loved and hated if you dare to open your mouth. Paul was able to continue by receiving help everyday. He said he took his stand by the help of God. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this.

“Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day; hesteka—I have stood, my life has been preserved, and my work continued; I have stood my ground, and have not been beaten off; I have stood to what I said, and have not been afraid nor ashamed to persist in it.” It was now above twenty years since Paul was converted, and all that time he had been very busy preaching the gospel in the midst of hazards; and what was it that bore him up? Not any strength of his own resolutions, but having obtained help of God; for therefore, because the work was so great and he had so much opposition, he could not otherwise have gone on in it, but by help obtained of God.”

So what kind of help do you need today? If your life is intertwined with advancing the gospel, supernatural help is guaranteed. What do you need to do to receive it? Nothing really, go forward in His plan and He will work for you. Embrace His kingdom, pursue His kingdom and all these other things will be added to you.
