Matt.6:6 – But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
There is something different in our church gatherings over the last few months that you cannot really describe. For those who know Victory Church there has been a distinct awareness of God’s presence in our services for quite a while. Over these last few months there is something that is enhancing that but also brings a new sense of expectancy in our midst. The altar calls are different, Feed the Multitudes was different, and our corporate prayer times are quite different. There is a hunger that only comes from God among us. That hunger is a sure sign that something different is among us. Prayer comes with a promise of reward. The reward is on multiple levels. The first reward is God Himself becomes our precious treasure, He is the reward. On top of that, prayers are answered. Things that have been stubbornly stagnant or stuck for years are breaking loose. Here is how Andrew Murray describes this.
“Here Jesus assures us that secret prayer cannot be fruitless; its blessing will show itself in our life. But in secret and alone with God, we have to entrust our life before men to Him; He will reward us openly; He will see to it that the answer to prayer is made manifest in His blessing upon us. In this way our Lord teaches us that with infinite fatherliness and faithfulness is how God meets us in secret, so our part should be the childlike simplicity of faith with the confidence that our prayer will bring a blessing. He that comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him……the Master has but one desire: Remember your Father is and sees and hears in secret; go there and stay there and leave in the confidence that He will reward. Trust Him for it; depend upon Him; prayer to the Father cannot be futile; He will reward you openly.”
Real prayer cannot be fruitless, God answers prayer. As Jesus said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” I am filled with anticipation of things to come, unprecedented things are in our midst.
