DWELL DEEP

DWELL DEEP

Psa. 95:4 In His hand are the deep places of the earth;
The heights of the hills are His also.

One of the tendencies of the natural man is to separate our so called spiritual life from our everyday life. Many of us operate as if our lives are in categories; our work life, our family life, our entertainment, and then our spiritual life. Actually, our whole life is spiritual because we are created in God’s image. We were born to be spiritual, it is our normal condition. This verse describes the deep places of the earth and the hand of God. If the truth were known, we are in His hand, or His presence, every moment of our life. When we are asleep, He is there: when we are working, He is there; when we are playing, He is there. He is there when we sin, He is there when we serve the poor. David goes on to say in vs.7, “For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.Today, if you will hear His voice…” The key to having God in our everyday life is in this verse. Today, if you hear his voice. He is always “today” and He is always speaking. Here is how A.B. Simpson saw it.

“God’s presence blends with every other thought and consciousness, flowing sweetly and evenly through our business plans, our social interactions, our hearts’ affections, our manual toll, our entire lives. Like the fragrance of a flower or the presence of a friend consciously near, and yet not hindering in the least the most intense and constant preoccupation of the hands and brain, so God consecrates all and is conscious through all. How beautiful the established habit of this unceasing communion and dependence amid and above all thoughts and occupations! How lovely to see a dear old saint folding away his books at night and humbly saying, “Lord Jesus, things are still just the same between us” and then falling asleep in His keeping.
So let us be stayed upon Him. Let us grow into Him with all the roots and fibers of our beings. He will not get tired of our friendship. He will not want to put us off sometimes. Beautiful words of the suffering saint: He never says goodbye. He stays. So let us be stayed on Him.”

Walking with God can be the highest goal of a Christian, learning to walk in the faith of Enoch. Is it possible that there is about to be a pendulum swing again in the body of Christ. Maybe the season of seeing The Lord as a means to a so called better life here is coming to a conclusion. Is it possible that a new emphasis is coming where the joy of walking with Him is reward enough? When we see the treasure that was purchased for us at calvary is the blessing of walking with The Lord in our daily life we can finally enter His rest.

  1. Jesus I pray that would have our intimacy deeper with you as esther had daniel deeper jesus all the day in every way second of each day! Deeper with jesus!

  2. Everyday from Kindergarten thru 8th grade I went to mass @6am with my grandmother. They always sang Just A Closer Walk With Thee. For years I would hear this song in my mind just over and over. It had gotten so constant in my thoughts that I found myself passionately singing it out loud. Call me old or old fashioned but it is my favorite song.I realized that this was no ordinary song to me but my true heart felt prayer to the Lord.We even sing it at church haha! I have not yet discovered anything more humbling, honorable, amazing, or as absolutely satisfying as walking with my Jesus. Amazing life.

  3. Amen. Walking with God is the core of our life and not some ticket to what pleases rotting flesh. If it is not the center of your deepest joy then you simply do not know Him well enough yet.

  4. O, yes….its ALL HIS!!! Hallelujah, Praise His Holy Name…
    Walk humbly with Him all the time. He is with me ALL THE TIME..HOW DEEP CAN WE GO, WHEW 🙂
