GOD UNVEILS HIS NAME IN THE FIRE

Ex.3:4-6 – So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

This passage is the famous portion of scripture where Moses was called by God and the Lord began to unveil His name, I AM, to Moses. All through the scripture the Lord has referred to Himself as I AM. This revelation of God all began in the fire of God. Today I want to reflect on a few of the places that the Lord unveiled Himself as I AM. In Ex.15:26 the Lord said, “I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer.” This great God is the Lord our healer, this is a glimpse into the power of His Name.

When the Lord provided a sacrifice for Abraham’s son He revealed Himself as Jehovah Jireh, I Am the Lord your provider. When Gideon was in the midst of turmoil fighting against the enemies of Israel the Lord came to Him as Jehovah, Shalom, I AM the Lord your peace.

Jesus also used this terminology when revealing Himself to His followers. When He raised Lazarus from the dead He said, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live even if he dies…”

After Jesus multiplied the fish and the bread He began to teach the people Who He was. He told them, “I am the bread of life. I am the bread that comes from heaven and gives life to the world”.

All of us go through circumstances in our lives where we need a fresh revelation of the Lord. If you are facing sickness, He is Jehovahh Rapha who heals all of your diseases. If you are in a battle He is Jehaovah Shalom, I am your peace. If you are facing lack, He is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who supplies our need. If you are dissatisfied with life, He is the true bread that comes down from heaven and satisfies our soul. Even in facing death He is the great I AM, just as He spoke over Lazarus’s tomb, “I AM the resurrection and the Life”. Just as the Lord revealed Himself to Moses through His name, today we find him an all that we need in the precious name of Jesus.
