Mk.5:30 – And Jesus, recognizing in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around immediately in the crowd and said, Who touched My clothes?
Mk.5:30 – TPT – Jesus knew at once that someone had touched him, for he felt the power that always surged around him had passed through him for someone to be healed. He turned and spoke to the crowd, saying, “Who touched my clothes?”
This is one of the clearest depictions of the anointing going out from Jesus and healing someone in all of scripture. This power was always flowing from Jesus but when someone reached out to Him in faith the power would flow into their life. Here is how
Vincent’s word book describes this, “that the power proceeding from him had gone forth”. Look carefully at this translation, “the power proceeding from Him had gone forth”. The power was always surging from Him and was directed to specific situations by faith. So this woman who had heard of other miracles flowing out from Jesus approached the Lord and touched Him by faith and then the power of God flowed into her and healed her. Here is how the notes in the Passion Translation describe this.
“This is a literal reading of a unique phrase in Greek construction. It could be translated “the power that keeps going out of him went out from him.” There was a glorious power that kept going out around Jesus Christ, drawing others to him and healing those he touched, and in this case, healing a woman who touched him in faith. Jesus knew that the power of God was always emanating around him, yet it had flowed through him to someone in the crowd. This same miracle was repeated with Peter in Acts 5:15.”
Have you ever experienced the anointing of the Holy Spirit in your personal life? Many Christians hold strong opinions about the anointing based on what others have said when they themselves have no experience with the power of God at all. What tends to change those pre-conceived ideas and barriers is having a personal crisis or need. This woman was at the end of her hope when stories about miracles flowing out from Jesus touched her heart and gave her the hope and courage to reach out for her miracle. Don’t allow others who don’t believe in the healing anointing keep you from seeking your miracle. Read the gospels and the book of Acts for yourself and come to your own conclusions. Jesus is still healing the sick today and His power is flowing out to all of those who believe.
