TO BRING US TO GOD
18 For Christ also suffered* once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit
I Peter 3:18
The blood of Jesus is about forgiveness, but also about so much more. His blood was spilled to bring us to God. The point of forgiveness is this. Our sins had seperated us from the Lord. When we are forgiven, heaven is opened to us. We have access to God. When Jesus ascended to heaven as a man, He took His place as exalted Lord on the throne of God. Because He was glorified He began to pour out His Spirit on us. The Bible calls this the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is why Jesus came, He came to bring us to God. Today He is calling out to us ” Is anybody thirsty? Let him come to me and drink. Out of your belly will flow rivers of living water”. Are you thirsty today? Jesus died to bring you to God. Today is the day to receive. The blood has been spilled, Jesus is glorified, heaven is open, the day of the Lord has come. Now is the time for us to respond. Let us come boldly before the throne of grace and find grace to help in our time of need.
